Hi! I'm Stacey, the face behind Stacey's Private Tutoring. I am a teacher with over 10 years of current classroom experience. I studied English in Education at the University of York before heading to the University of Cambridge to study for my Primary PGCE. I then spent 3 year teaching at a small mixed form entry school in Cambridgeshire before moving back to York and teaching at a larger primary school in Leeds. I have taught across the entire primary age phase from Reception to Year 6 and have also been school lead for English, with a more specific focus on early reading, maths and KS1.
Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with hundreds of incredible children, honing my craft and ensuring that education is enjoyable and inclusive for every child in my care. I have worked with children with a diverse range of needs from ADD, Dyslexia, Autism, Developmental Delay and EAL. As a class teacher it is clear to me that some children would majorly benefit from a more bespoke approach to learning which mainstream schooling, through no fault of its own, cannot always provide.
This is something I reflected on as I embarked on the new adventure of being a mum to my gorgeous little boy. So, during maternity leave I started Stacey's Private Tutoring and suddenly there were two loves in my life and another adventure I wanted to take. Tutoring one-to-one and for small groups has given me an additional outlet for my creativity and allowed me to move away from the one-size fits all model that teachers are often required to work within. It was soon clear, after meeting some incredible children and families, that this is something I wanted to continue long after my maternity leave was over.
Since then I have had the privilege of tutoring children with a diverse range of needs from confidence boosting, to accelerating academic performance I've been able to help children to reach their potential at any stage of their learning journey.
Outside of teaching, tutoring and parenting, I still manage to find time for the things I love. As a voracious reader I always enjoy the opportunity to jump into a good book and hear about what everyone else is reading. When I can I love to get out and about and go to the theatre, I am especially a fan of musicals and will often be heard belting show tunes, not just in the school choir! I also enjoy opportunities to be creative with knitting, embroidery and designing and making small world and sensory trays for my little one.
But the best way to get to know me is to meet me. I offer a free, no obligation meeting to all potential families so you can see if I am the right fit. So feel free to get in touch!
